Placements24 is seeking a results-oriented Mining Engineer to oversee day-to-day operations at a Centurion mine. You will plan, design, and manage safe, cost-effective mining operations while meeting targets and complying with safety and environmental standards.

You will lead a team of supervisors and operational personnel to drive excellence. The role requires 6+ years in mine operations and planning, experience with underground or open-pit methods, and proficiency in Vulcan/Surpac.

Qualifications

• BSc or BEng in Mining Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of progressive mine operations/planning experience.
• Experience with underground or open-pit mining methods.
• Proficiency with mine planning software (Vulcan, Surpac) and simulation tools.
• Pr.Eng registration is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Developing and implementing short-term and long-term mine plans.
• Supervising daily mining activities, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling.
• Monitoring operational performance and implementing corrective actions to optimize productivity and cost.
• Ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Managing and mentoring mine supervisors and operational personnel.
• Conducting feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining projects or expansions.

This role demands strong leadership, technical expertise, and the ability to solve complex operational challenges in a dynamic mining environment. You will lead a team of operational staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• BSc/BEng in Mining Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in mine operations and planning.
• Proven experience with underground mining or open-pit mining methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of mine planning software (e.g., Vulcan, Surpac) and simulation tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration is highly advantageous.
