Placements24 is seeking a specialized Mine Ventilation Engineer to ensure safe underground environments near Upington. You will design, implement, and monitor ventilation systems, analyze air quality data, and collaborate with planning and safety teams to integrate ventilation strategies into mine design.

The role requires a bachelor’s in Mining or Mechanical Engineering with ventilation specialization and 5+ years of underground experience, plus proficiency with Ventsim/REFLEX and strong

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering with specialization in ventilation.
• Minimum of 5 years in mine ventilation engineering, preferably underground.
• Proficiency with mine ventilation simulation software (Ventsim, REFLEX).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and air quality monitoring principles.
• Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and environmental standards.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, and maintain mine ventilation systems, including fans and ducting.
• Conduct regular assessments of underground air quality, temperature, and humidity.
• Develop ventilation plans to meet production and safety requirements.
• Monitor ventilation network performance using specialized software and equipment.
• Investigate and resolve issues related to air quality, dust and gas management.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with mine planning and safety teams to integrate ventilation strategies into design.
