Placements24 is seeking a Mine Ventilation Engineer to join our operations in Vereeniging. You will design, implement, and monitor ventilation systems to ensure safe air quality, temperature, and pressure underground, adhering to SA mining regulations.

The role requires a degree in Mechanical or Mining Engineering with a Ventilation specialization and at least four years of experience. You will work closely with safety teams to uphold health and safety standards in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mining Engineering with a specialization in Ventilation.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience in mine ventilation engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of mine ventilation principles, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics.
• Experience with ventilation modeling software such as Ventsim or Minescape.
• Familiarity with South African mining regulations pertaining to ventilation and occupational hygiene.

Responsibilities

• Design, install, and maintain mine ventilation networks, including fans, ducting, and auxiliary systems.
• Conduct regular air quality monitoring and analysis to ensure compliance with occupational exposure limits.
• Develop and implement strategies for controlling heat stress, dust, and noxious gases underground.
• Perform diagnostic tests on ventilation systems and troubleshoot malfunctions.
• Collaborate with safety officers and mine management to ensure a safe working environment.
• Maintain accurate records of ventilation surveys, system performance, and compliance documentation.

About the Role

You will be responsible for maintaining optimal air quality, temperature, and pressure within the underground environment, thereby preventing hazards associated with dust, gases, and heat.
