Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mine Planning Engineer for underground mining operations near Klerksdorp in North West. You will design and optimize mine layouts, production schedules, and resource extraction plans to maximize safety and productivity.

You will collaborate with geology, surveying and operations teams, apply Deswik or Vulcan to build 3D models, and prepare layouts, schedules and feasibility studies. A degree in Mining Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience are required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in mine planning, preferably underground operations.
• Proficiency with industry-standard mine planning software packages (Deswik, Vulcan).
• Solid understanding of mining methods, rock mechanics, and mine surveying principles.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to visualize complex spatial data.
• Effective communication and teamwork to coordinate with various departments.

Responsibilities

• Develop short-term and long-term mine plans, including stope design, drill and blast patterns, and production sequencing.
• Utilize mine planning software to create and optimize 3D mine models.
• Conduct economic evaluations and feasibility studies for various mining scenarios.
• Collaborate with operational teams to monitor progress against plans and adjust as needed.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies in all planning activities.
• Prepare technical documentation, including mine layouts, production reports, and resource estimates.
