About the Role

Our client is seeking a results-oriented Mine Operations Manager to oversee and direct all aspects of mining operations at their Richards Bay facility. This dynamic role requires strong leadership to ensure efficient, safe, and cost-effective extraction of resources. You will manage production planning, resource allocation, and operational teams to meet company targets while upholding the highest standards of safety and environmental stewardship. The position offers a blend of on-site leadership and strategic remote planning, allowing for involvement in both the day-to-day execution and the broader operational strategy. You will be a key figure in driving operational excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all day-to-day mining operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling, ensuring optimal production targets are met.
• Develop and implement short-term and long-term production plans in coordination with geology and engineering departments.
• Manage operational budgets, control costs, and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
• Ensure strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of operational staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and support departments to ensure the reliability of mining equipment and infrastructure.

Requirements

• Degree in Mining Engineering, Mine Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mine operations management.
• Proven track record in managing large-scale open-pit or underground mining operations.
• Strong understanding of mine planning software, production scheduling, and cost control.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Experience with hybrid work models, balancing on-site presence with remote strategic input.
