About the Role

Our client is seeking a dynamic and experienced Mine Operations Superintendent to oversee day-to-day operations at one of their key mining sites in Durban. This role requires a leader who can effectively balance on-site management with strategic planning and remote coordination. You will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective production targets are met, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage all aspects of underground or open-pit mine operations, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Develop and implement operational plans to achieve production targets and manage budgets effectively.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse workforce of mine supervisors and operators.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and geology departments to optimize mine plans and productivity.
• Conduct regular site inspections and operational reviews, with reporting conducted remotely or on-site as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mine operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
• Demonstrated expertise in mine planning, production management, and cost control.
• Strong understanding of safety management systems and environmental best practices in the mining industry.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid model, requiring both on-site presence and remote administrative duties.
