Placements24 is seeking a Mine Maintenance Superintendent to oversee all mechanical and electrical maintenance for mining operations on-site in Soweto, Gauteng. You will lead a team of technicians and supervisors, implement proactive maintenance strategies, manage spare parts inventory, and ensure safety compliance to maximize uptime.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related degree.
• Minimum 7 years of maintenance supervision/management experience in mining or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Experience with CMMS and scheduling software.
• Proven leadership and safety compliance experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs for mining equipment.
• Lead and supervise maintenance supervisors, technicians, and artisans, ensuring efficient work allocation and performance management.
• Oversee maintenance/repair of heavy mobile equipment, processing plant machinery, and electrical systems.
• Manage maintenance budget, spare parts inventory, labor costs, and capex for equipment upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Analyze equipment performance data to identify trends and root causes for continuous improvement.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Mine Maintenance Superintendent to oversee all mechanical and electrical maintenance activities for their mining operations in the Soweto vicinity. This pivotal role ensures the reliability and optimal performance of all mining equipment, including heavy mobile machinery, processing plants, and fixed infrastructure. You will lead a team of maintenance technicians and supervisors, implementing proactive maintenance strategies, managing spare parts inventory, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. This is an on-site position critical to minimizing downtime and maximizing operational efficiency within the vibrant mining landscape of Gauteng .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive preventive and corrective maintenance programs for all mining equipment.
• Lead and supervise a team of maintenance supervisors, technicians, and artisans, ensuring efficient work allocation and performance management.
