Job summary
Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead the electrical design of power distribution networks for mining projects in Klerksdorp. You will oversee on-site installation, commissioning and testing, ensuring safety and reliability in underground and surface operations.
The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, 8+ years of mining electrical experience, and proficiency in AutoCAD and ETAP. Pr.Eng registration with ECSA is advantageous.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
- 8+ years of relevant mining/electrical experience.
- Experience designing electrical systems for underground and surface mining.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD and ETAP.
- Pr.Eng registration with ECSA is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Lead design of power distribution networks and control systems for mining projects.
- Develop detailed electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, BoQ.
- Oversee on-site installation, commissioning and testing of electrical systems.
- Perform load flow, fault calculations, and protection coordination studies.
- Mentor junior engineers and site personnel.
- Collaborate with project managers, geologists and mechanical engineers.
