About the Role

Our client, a major player in the mining industry, is seeking a seasoned Electrical Engineer to oversee electrical operations at their site near Bloemfontein . This role is critical for ensuring the reliable and safe functioning of all electrical infrastructure and equipment essential for mining operations. You will be responsible for maintaining and improving the electrical systems that power heavy machinery, processing plants, and site facilities, contributing directly to operational efficiency and safety. This is a site-based role requiring dedicated commitment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain all electrical installations, equipment, and systems within the mining operation.
• Oversee the installation and commissioning of new electrical equipment and infrastructure.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules for electrical systems to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, mining legislation, and electrical standards.
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults on heavy mining machinery and plant equipment.
• Supervise a team of electricians and technicians, providing guidance and training.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably within the mining or heavy industrial sector .
• Strong knowledge of high voltage and low voltage electrical systems, power distribution, and motor control.
• Experience with mining equipment electrical systems is a significant advantage.
• Registered as a Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) or Technologist (Pr.Tech.Eng) with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and safety management skills.
