Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer to focus on maintenance and optimization of heavy mining machinery in the Limpopo province, near Polokwane. You will diagnose faults, implement preventative maintenance plans, and oversee electrical upgrades to ensure reliable, safe operation of complex mining equipment.

The role requires reading schematics, applying motor control knowledge (AC/DC), PLCs, and VFDs, and collaborating with mechanical engineers and maintenance crews to minimize

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in electrical engineering for heavy industrial/mining equipment.
• Strong knowledge of AC/DC motor control, PLCs, and VFDs.
• Ability to read complex electrical schematics and docs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems on heavy mining equipment.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance schedules to minimize downtime.
• Ensure compliance with electrical safety codes and standards in a mining environment.
• Oversee electrical installation and commissioning of new machinery and plant equipment.
• Analyze electrical system performance data and recommend improvements for reliability.
• Collaborate with mechanical engineers and maintenance teams for optimal function.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

4+ years of experience in electrical engineering (heavy industrial/mining)
