Job summary

Exceed HR and Recruitment in Stellenbosch is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to design and develop mechanical components and assemblies, create 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings, and perform structural and thermal analyses.

The ideal candidate has a BEng/BSc Eng/MEng/MSc in Mechanical, Mechatronic or Aerospace Engineering with 2+ years of relevant experience, and is proficient in SolidWorks, RhinoCAD, Solid Edge and ANSYS or Abaqus.

Qualifications

• BEng, BSc Eng, MEng or MSc in Mechanical, Mechatronic or Aerospace Engineering.
• 2+ Years’ relevant mechanical design experience.
• Experience with mechanical CAD modelling and engineering drawings.
• Strong knowledge of structural (FEA) and/or thermal analysis.
• Experience with CAD and FEA tools such as SolidWorks, RhinoCAD, Solid Edge, ANSYS or Abaqus.
• Aerospace, defence or high-reliability industry experience advantageous.
• RF/antenna systems and environmental testing experience advantageous.
• Knowledge of harsh-environment design and ECSS or MIL-STD standards beneficial.
• Precision manufacturing, DFMA and product lifecycle experience advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and report-writing skills.
• Excellent attention to detail, communication, teamwork and planning skills.
• South African citizenship or valid work permit.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies.
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings.
• Perform structural, thermal and vibration analysis.
• Support environmental qualification testing, including vibration and thermal vacuum testing.
• Analyse test data and prepare engineering reports.
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams and suppliers to improve cost, quality and producibility.
• Participate in design reviews and engineering best practices.
• Provide technical support to cross-functional teams.
