HR Talent Partner SA is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer for a full‑time permanent role in Stellenbosch. You will design and qualify components for satellite communication systems, creating detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings.

The ideal candidate has a Mechanical or Aerospace degree, at least 2 years' experience in mechanical design, and hands‑on expertise with CAD and FEA tools. You will support testing, reporting, and collaboration with manufacturing and suppliers to ensure

Responsabilidades

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for satellite communication systems
• Create detailed 3D CAD models and manufacturing drawings
• Perform structural (FEA), thermal, and vibration analysis for harsh environments (rocket launch and space)
• Support environmental qualification testing (vibration, thermal vacuum cycling, etc.)
• Analyse test data and produce detailed engineering reports
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams and suppliers to optimise producibility and cost
• Contribute to design reviews and engineering best practices
• Provide technical support to cross‑functional teams (e.g. design and development, sales and marketing)
• Support efforts to improve mechanical product quality standards, including working with suppliers to address quality issues.

Mechanical Design Engineer job vacancy in Stellenbosch.

A renowned aerospace and space technology company is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their team on a full-time permanent basis in Stellenbosch.

Position Overview:

You will be responsible for the mechanical design, analysis, and qualification of components and assemblies for satellite communication systems.

This role requires a hands‑on engineer with a strong analytical capability and experience in designing for demanding environments.

You will also contribute to technical decision‑making and improve engineering processes.

Minimum Requirements:

• South African citizenship or valid work permit.
• BEng / BSc Eng / MEng / MSc in Mechanical, Mechatronic or Aerospace Engineering
• 2+ years of relevant mechanical design experience
• Proven experience in mechanical CAD modelling and engineering drawings
• Strong background in structural (FEA) and/or thermal analysis, including experience with tools.
• MS Office suite

Preferred Experience:

• Experience in aerospace, defence, or high-reliability industries
• Exposure to RF or antenna systems (advantageous)
• Familiarity with environmental qualification (vibration, shock, thermal vacuum)
• Experience designing for harsh environments
• Knowledge of relevant standards (e.g., ECSS, MIL-STD)
• Experience working with precision manufacturing processes (CNC machining, etc.)
• Exposure to product lifecycle management and change management processes
• Exposure to systems engineering concepts

Required Qualification:
