Job summary

Crew Life at Sea Ltd. is seeking an Automation Technician to maintain and troubleshoot vessel automation systems in Cape Town. You will work with navigation, communication, and engine control systems, ensuring reliability and proper integration with engineering teams.

The role requires a technical certification in automation, STCW, and hands-on maritime experience. You will document all work, support system upgrades, and train other crew members in best practices for automation maintenance.

Qualifications

Must have strong knowledge of automation systems across navigation, communication, and engine control.
2+ years of hands-on automation technician experience in maritime settings.
Willingness to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
Valid seafarer's medical certificate and STCW certification are required.

Responsibilities

Conduct regular maintenance and inspections of all automation systems on board the vessel.
Troubleshoot and resolve automation system issues, including hardware and software faults.
Monitor system performance and analyze data to identify and fix potential problems.
Install, configure, and upgrade automation systems as needed.
Collaborate with the engineering department to ensure proper integration and functionality.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repairs performed on automation systems.
Train crew members in operation and maintenance of automation systems.
Stay updated with advancements and propose system improvements.
