Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Marine Electronics Technician to join our team in Mossel Bay. You will install, maintain, and repair electronics on vessels, including GPS, VHF radios, autopilots, and fish finders.

You will diagnose faults, perform tests, and ensure compliance with maritime safety standards while supporting vessel crews in operation and safety. The role requires hands-on technical aptitude, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to work in diverse marine environments

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Marine Electronics Technician or similar role.
• Strong understanding of marine navigation, communication, and safety systems.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools and soldering equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and test marine electronic equipment (GPS, VHF radios, autopilots, fish finders).
• Diagnose and repair faults in marine electronic systems using specialized test equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal functioning of installed equipment.
• Troubleshoot wiring and system integration issues on vessels.
• Ensure installations and repairs comply with maritime safety standards and regulations.
• Provide technical support and training to vessel crews on operation of electronic systems.
