Job summary

Crew Life at Sea Ltd. is seeking a Refrigeration and Air Conditioning support role aboard our vessel in Cape Town.

You will assist the Refrigeration Engineer in maintaining and repairing HVAC systems, monitor temperatures, and help implement the maintenance plan to ensure operational readiness. The role requires at least 2 years of experience, knowledge of HVAC and refrigerants, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding maritime environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience with refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems and refrigerants.
• Familiarity with marine refrigeration systems preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Willingness to work in fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
• Valid STCW certification and seafarer's medical certificate required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Refrigeration Engineer in maintaining and repairing all refrigeration and air conditioning systems on board the vessel.
• Monitor and maintain proper temperatures and humidity levels in all refrigerated and frozen storage areas.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning coils, changing filters, and checking refrigerant levels.
• Keep accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
• Assist in the preparation and execution of the vessel's refrigeration and air conditioning maintenance plan.
• Follow all safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
• Assist in training and supervising junior engineering staff as needed.
