Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer specializing in process optimization for a manufacturing facility in Tembisa, Gauteng. You will analyze production lines, implement mechanical improvements, and drive efficiency and quality improvements across operations.

The role requires a data-driven approach, knowledge of Lean principles, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. CAD experience and familiarity with automation are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years in a manufacturing environment focusing on process engineering or optimization.
• Experience analyzing and improving production line efficiency.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing equipment, automation and control systems.

Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing processes to identify bottlenecks and opportunities for mechanical improvement.
• Design, develop, and implement modifications to machinery and lines to optimize performance.
• Use data analysis and SPC to monitor process parameters and measure impact of changes.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance and management to implement improvements.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for upgrades.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and training materials.
• Ensure modifications meet safety and environmental standards.
• Stay updated on new technologies in manufacturing and mechanical engineering.
• Troubleshoot issues arising on the line and implement corrective actions.
