Placements24 is seeking a Production Mechanical Engineer in Tembisa, Gauteng, with a hybrid work setup. The role focuses on optimizing mechanical manufacturing processes and enabling efficient production while maintaining quality, safety, and reliability.

The ideal candidate will have a Mechanical Engineering background, 3+ years in manufacturing, and strong problem-solving abilities to collaborate across maintenance, quality, and production teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• At least 3 years in production/manufacturing engineering.
• Experience with manufacturing processes (e.g., CNC machining, stamping, assembly).
• Lean/Six Sigma knowledge is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Optimize mechanical manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues with production machinery and equipment.
• Implement process improvements and new technologies to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
• Collaborate with the maintenance team to ensure preventative maintenance schedules are met and equipment reliability is maximized.
• Work with quality control to address any mechanical defects or issues impacting product specifications.
• Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for production machinery.
• Support new product introductions by ensuring production readiness and process validation.
• Analyze production data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
• Participate in cross-functional teams to address production challenges and implement solutions.
