Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a knowledgeable Sommelier for a renowned luxury wine estate near Rustenburg. You will curate an exquisite wine program, select and purchase wines, store them properly, and present recommendations to guests.

The role requires deep viticulture and vinification knowledge and a refined hospitality approach. You will develop the estate's wine list, provide expert table-side service, manage cellar operations, and conduct tastings for guests and staff.

Qualifications

• Formal wine certification or equivalent extensive experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sommelier or in a senior wine-related role.
• Extensive knowledge of global wine regions, grape varietals, vintages, and wine production.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage guests from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Develop and manage the estate's wine list, ensuring a diverse and high-quality selection that complements the cuisine.
• Provide exceptional wine service to guests, including recommending pairings and performing professional table-side service.
• Oversee wine inventory, cellar management, and purchasing, maintaining optimal stock levels and storage conditions.
• Conduct wine tastings and educational sessions for guests and staff, enhancing their appreciation and knowledge.
• Collaborate with the culinary team to create harmonious food and wine pairings.
• Stay abreast of current wine trends, emerging regions, and new vintages.
