Job summary

Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee the upkeep of facilities and equipment, ensuring a seamless luxury experience for guests. You will lead a maintenance team, coordinating with housekeeping and other department heads to deliver proactive maintenance and cost-conscious operations.

The role requires a minimum of five years in a similar position, with strong leadership, budgeting acumen, and comprehensive knowledge of health and safety standards for a 5-star

Qualifications

• 5+ years proven experience in a similar position.
• Strong leadership to manage a team.
• Ability to maximise staff performance through training & coaching.
• Excellent knowledge of maintenance requirements and standards for a 5 Star Hotel.
• Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations.
• Familiarity with plumbing, electrical, sewer and HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

• Conduct ongoing preventive maintenance and upkeep of maintenance services.
• Ensure all maintenance activities meet the standards for efficiency and productivity.
• Ensure the hotel meets health and safety standards in line with H&S audits.
• Arrange routine maintenance in rooms, lobbies and facilities.
• Organise all projects to not disturb guests.
• Oversee all aspects of projects within budget and scope.
• Set deadlines, assign responsibilities and monitor progress.
• Resolve emergencies quickly.
• Find ways to reduce operating costs and conserve energy.
• Manage relationships with contractors and service providers.
• Maintain budgets and logs.
• Coordinate with Executive Housekeeper and other heads on preventive maintenance.
• Develop and update SOP manuals.
