Job summary

Mount Nelson, A Belmond Hotel, seeks an Assistant Maintenance Manager to safeguard the hotel's infrastructure and equipment, ensuring a luxury guest experience.

In this role you will work with the Chief Engineer to plan preventative maintenance, manage parts inventories, supervise maintenance staff and external contractors, and uphold health and safety standards across the property. Candidates with luxury hospitality experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years’ managerial maintenance experience.
• Relevant technical qualifications.
• Experience in luxury hospitality preferred.
• Experience with contractor scheduling and small projects.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, kitchen trades.
• Familiarity with procurement and inventory management.
• Vehicle maintenance knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and implement maintenance programme for buildings, plant and equipment.
• Plan and implement preventative maintenance including HVAC, heavy machinery.
• Order and distribute spare parts and maintenance supplies.
• Manage inventory to ensure availability for emergencies.
• Oversee completion of maintenance tasks and resolutions.
• Assess work by maintenance team and external contractors for quality.
• Ensure health and safety standards are followed and audits addressed.
• Action guest/management/employee requests promptly.
• Conduct regular inspections with Chief Engineer to identify problems.
• Monitor and ensure maintenance team adheres to standards.
