Placements24 is seeking a detailed Logistics Coordinator to manage inbound and outbound shipments for a major FMCG client. This fully remote role supports our distribution hub near East London, Eastern Cape, coordinating carriers, optimizing routes, and ensuring timely deliveries with real-time tracking and compliant documentation.

You will build strong supplier relationships, monitor KPIs, and drive cost efficiency while maintaining accurate inventory flow.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a significant player in the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Coordinator to manage and optimize their distribution network. This is a fully remote position, enabling you to manage logistics operations seamlessly from home, while supporting our distribution hub near East London, Eastern Cape . You will be responsible for coordinating inbound and outbound shipments, managing carrier relationships, ensuring timely delivery of products, and maintaining efficient inventory flow. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of logistics principles, experience within the FMCG supply chain, and exceptional organizational and communication skills. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth and cost-effective movement of goods.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate all aspects of inbound and outbound logistics for FMCG products, ensuring timely and efficient movement.
• Manage relationships with third-party logistics providers, carriers, and suppliers, negotiating rates and monitoring performance.
• Plan and schedule shipments, optimizing routes and loads to minimize costs and transit times.
• Track shipments in real-time, proactively addressing any delays or issues.
• Maintain accurate logistics documentation, including shipping manifests, customs forms, and delivery records.
• Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with warehouse and inventory management teams to ensure seamless product flow.
• Monitor key logistics performance indicators (KPIs) and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Prepare regular reports on logistics activities, costs, and efficiency metrics.
• Resolve logistical issues and customer service inquiries related to shipments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in logistics coordination or a similar role, preferably within the FMCG industry.
• Strong understanding of transportation management, inventory control, and warehouse operations.
• Proficiency in using logistics software and TMS (Transportation Management Systems).
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.
• Familiarity with international shipping regulations is a plus.
