Job summary

University of Fort Hare is seeking a Logistics Coordinator for a permanent vacancy based in Woodmead, Gauteng. The role requires a Grade 12 with tertiary education in procurement and/or logistics or equivalent experience, and at least 2 years in administrative, procurement, and logistics roles within the chemical sector.

You will review and track orders, negotiate transport rates, coordinate deliveries, and ensure compliance with transport regulations while liaising with sales and customers.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with tertiary education in procurement and/or logistics, or relevant experience in a customer-focused administration role.
• Minimum of 2 years’ relevant administrative, procurement, and logistics experience in the chemical sector.
• Knowledge of bulk and specialty chemicals and the related transportation safety requirements and guidelines.
• Knowledge of import and export regulations; Good financial understanding & detail-oriented.
• Experience using Microsoft programs, including Excel, Word, and databases.
• Experience using accounting programs, preferably Sage.
• Able to work in a pressurised environment and meet strict deadlines.
• Able to work independently and proactively; Good time management skills.
• A friendly, professional manner and strong interpersonal skills are essential.
• Able to represent the company professionally when interacting with clients, suppliers, and transporters; Exceptional communication and customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Review, process, and track orders.
• Negotiate rates with transporters.
• Coordinate and schedule deliveries.
• Prepare delivery and shipment.
• Manage shipping subcontractors and stock levels at the offsite facility.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable local and international transportation laws and regulations.
• Act as the point of contact for delivery times, delays, and updates.
• Liaise with the sales team.
