Placements24 is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer in Sandton to lead the structural design and analysis for major commercial, retail, and residential projects across Gauteng. You will oversee calculations, drawings, and specifications, select structural systems, and ensure safety and code compliance from concept to construction.

The role requires strong leadership, extensive project management experience, and the ability to deliver innovative structural solutions under pressure.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related civil field is required.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA is essential.
• 8–10 years' experience in structural engineering with a strong project portfolio.
• Proven expertise in structural analysis software and CAD tools.
• Strong knowledge of concrete and steel design codes and best practices.
• Excellent leadership, project management and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to travel within the Sandton area for site visits.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design and analysis for significant commercial, retail, and residential projects.
• Prepare detailed calculations, drawings, and specifications per SANS and building codes.
• Oversee selection of suitable structural systems and materials.
• Collaborate with architects, PMs, contractors and other consultants.
• Conduct site inspections to monitor construction progress and address queries.
• Review design submissions and shop drawings from contractors.
• Mentor junior structural engineers and manage timelines & budgets.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety on site.
• Contribute to business development through client meetings and proposals.
