Placements24 seeks a Lead Structural Engineer to drive the structural design of major commercial developments in George, Western Cape. You will conceptualize, design and deliver complex structural systems, ensuring safety, integrity and architectural harmony.

You will lead a team of engineers, collaborate with architects and clients, and oversee compliance with local codes and standards while guiding project budgets and schedules.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering or related field.
• Pr.Eng. registration with ECSA essential.
• 10+ years of post-graduate experience in structural engineering, with at least 3 years in lead/senior capacity.
• Demonstrated expertise in designing commercial buildings, including high-rise structures.
• Proficiency in ETABS, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro and CAD software.
• Strong understanding of SANS and international codes.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural engineering design process for a diverse portfolio of commercial buildings from concept to completion.
• Perform advanced structural analysis and design calculations for steel, concrete and timber.
• Develop innovative, cost-effective structural solutions meeting project requirements.
• Mentor and manage a team of structural engineers and technicians.
• Collaborate with architects, clients, contractors and regulators throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review and approve shop drawings, submittals and site inspection reports.
• Ensure compliance with building codes, standards and regulations in George, Western Cape.
• Conduct site visits and provide construction support for structural queries.
• Manage project budgets and schedules related to structural engineering.
• Stay updated with latest structural engineering technologies and best practices.
