Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Solar PV Engineer to join a pioneering renewables team. This fully remote position allows you to design, optimize and lead solar projects from a home office anywhere in South Africa.

You will head technical design for utility-scale and distributed PV, run energy yield assessments, develop BOMs and construction drawings, and guide EPCs and site teams. The ideal candidate holds a BEng/MEng in Electrical or Renewable Energy, 8+ years PV experience, and proficiency in

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of PV design and engineering experience.
• Expertise in solar resource assessment, PV design principles, and performance optimization.
• Proficiency with PV design software (PVSyst, Helioscope) and simulation tools.
• Strong knowledge of grid interconnection standards, electrical codes, and safety regulations.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to remote work.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical design and engineering of PV systems from concept to detail.
• Perform energy yield assessments, simulations, and performance modeling.
• Develop BOMs and construction drawings for PV installations.
• Provide expert technical support to project teams and EPCs.
• Conduct technical due diligence and suggest optimizations.
• Stay updated on solar tech trends and regulations.
