Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Senior Solar PV Design Engineer to contribute to a growing renewable energy portfolio with a remote work arrangement. You will oversee the complete electrical design of utility-scale and commercial solar projects, from concept design through detailed construction drawings, ensuring safety, performance, and code compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field.
• 6+ years of professional experience in electrical design, with emphasis on solar PV.
• Proficiency in solar design software such as PVSyst, AutoCAD Electrical, and other simulation tools.
• In-depth knowledge of HV/LV electrical systems and equipment used in solar projects.
• Ability to work remotely from Upington context.

Responsibilities

• Lead the electrical design for solar PV projects, including site layout, system architecture, and component selection.
• Develop detailed electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, schematics, and wiring for solar power plants.
• Perform electrical studies such as load flow analysis, short-circuit calculations, and ground fault analysis.
• Ensure all designs comply with codes (IEC, SANS) and client specs.
• Provide technical support during construction and commissioning, remotely assisting field teams.
