Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Lead Process Engineer to head processing operations in Mossel Bay, driving efficiency and innovation in mineral and industrial plants. The role requires overseeing design, troubleshooting, and large-scale project management with a strong safety mindset.

The ideal candidate brings 9+ years in process engineering, leadership of multi-disciplinary teams, and expertise in Aspen Plus/HYSYS. ECSA registration is advantageous and relocation support may be provided.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 9 years of progressive experience in process engineering, with focus on industrial/mineral processing.
• Proven leadership of engineering teams and large projects.
• Strong proficiency with process simulation software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and process control systems.
• Knowledge of unit operations, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics and mass transfer.
• Experience with risk assessment and HAZOP studies.
• Professional registration with ECSA or equivalent is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead the process engineering team with technical guidance and mentorship.
• Develop and optimize process designs and procedures for efficiency and throughput.
• Troubleshoot complex process issues and implement corrective actions.
• Perform process simulations, mass and energy balances, feasibility studies.
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance for reliability and uptime.
• Manage process-related capital projects from concept to commissioning.
• Develop KPIs for process performance monitoring.
• Stay updated on new technologies and best practices.
