Placements24 seeks a Process Engineer for Mossel Bay, Western Cape to drive continuous improvement in specialty chemical manufacturing, designing and optimizing processes with a focus on safety and quality.

The role involves monitoring performance, simulations, PHAs, and collaboration with production and maintenance teams to ensure efficient operations and successful scale-up to commercial production.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent from a recognized university.
• 3–5 years of experience in process engineering within a chemical manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with process monitoring, data analysis, and optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with process simulation software is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze process performance data to identify opportunities for improvement in efficiency, yield, and quality.
• Develop and implement process modifications and upgrades, ensuring successful commissioning and validation.
• Conduct process simulations and modeling to test new designs and optimize existing operations.
• Troubleshoot process upsets, investigate root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Assist in the development and review of Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and ensure safety protocols are maintained.
• Prepare technical documentation, including process descriptions, P&IDs, and operating procedures.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality control teams to ensure smooth operations.
• Support scale-up activities from pilot plant to commercial production.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
