Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Senior Process Engineer to optimize existing chemical processes and lead new process technologies in Mahikeng, North West. The role requires collaboration with production, R&D, and maintenance to troubleshoot, drive continuous improvement, and support capital projects.

The successful candidate will have a strong chemical engineering foundation, 5+ years in process design and scale-up, and experience with Aspen Plus/HYSYS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level chemical engineering degree (B.Eng. or B.Sc.).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in process engineering within chemical manufacturing.
• Proficiency with process simulation/design software (Aspen Plus, HYSYS).
• Knowledge of unit operations, thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and mass transfer.
• Experience with PHA methodologies (HAZOP).
• Familiarity with process control systems and instrumentation.
• Strong project management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize chemical processes to improve efficiency, yield, and quality.
• Run process simulations and modeling using Aspen Plus, HYSYS or similar tools.
• Troubleshoot issues with production and maintenance and implement solutions.
• Create P&IDs, equipment specs, and SOPs.
• Lead or participate in PHAs and ensure safety and environmental compliance.
• Support design, commissioning, and start-up of new equipment and modifications.
• Manage small to medium capital projects within budget and schedule.
• Evaluate new process technologies to enhance capabilities.
• Mentor junior engineers and operators; maintain process documentation.
