Job summary

Abantu Staffing Solutions seeks a Maintenance Supervisor for a manufacturing site in Gqeberha, Eastern Cape. You will lead reactive, predictive and preventative maintenance on plant and equipment to maximise uptime and compliance with safety standards.

The role requires 5+ years in maintenance operations, supervisory experience, and a relevant technical qualification. You will coordinate jobs, raise work orders, and ensure safe, clean work areas while driving continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Certificate/ Diploma in Technical discipline or Maintenance-related fields (NQF5/6).
• Relevant Trade Test.
• Certificate in First Line Management (FLMP).
• Minimum 5 years' experience in Maintenance Operations in a Manufacturing environment, including supervisory level (1-2 years) and shifts (up to 3 years).
• Computer literacy.
• In-depth knowledge of maintenance practices, procedures and processes.
• Sound understanding of compliance with applicable legislation, safety and related manufacturing regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensures reactive, predictive and preventative maintenance on plant/equipment to limit failures and optimise production.
• Coordinates first line maintenance to reduce downtime.
• Raises job cards and ensures necessary work permits are included.
• Drives fault analysis (Root Cause Analysis – 5 WHY, 8D).
• Approves job cards after maintenance is completed.
• Ensures equipment and work areas are safe and tidy; housekeeping standards maintained.
• Conducts preventative maintenance as per schedule.
• Minimises plant downtime and promptly rectifies equipment failures.
• Coordinates plant shutdowns with feedback to management.
• Safety and housekeeping standards complied with.
• Writes reports to Manager.
