Placements24 seeks a Chief Surveyor to lead the surveying department in Mahikeng, driving precise spatial data, mine planning, and reconciliation for underground and surface operations. You will guide a team of surveyors and technicians to deliver accurate plans and reports.

The role emphasizes safety, regulatory compliance, and the use of advanced surveying tech such as total stations, GPS/GNSS, and laser scanners, with collaboration across planning, geology, and production for efficient mining

Qualifications

• Degree in Surveying/Geomatics or related field.
• Professional registration (e.g., PLATO) is essential.
• Minimum 7 years in mine surveying with at least 3 in a supervisory role.
• Proficiency in Trimble Business Center and CAD packages (AutoCAD).
• Experience with mine planning software (Vulcan/Surpac/Deswik) is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the mine surveying team with technical guidance.
• Establish and verify survey control networks for all operations.
• Conduct topographic surveys, volumetric calculations, and stockpile inventories.
• Prepare detailed mine plans, sections, and reports using CAD and mine planning software.
• Ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act and related surveying regulations.
• Oversee equipment maintenance including total stations, GPS/GNSS, and laser scanners.
• Mentor junior surveyors and perform data quality checks.
