Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Lead Information Security Engineer based in Pretoria to architect, implement, and manage security for a multi-cloud environment (AWS, Azure, GCP). The role requires cloud security expertise, strong leadership, and experience driving security across multiple teams.

You will develop security policies, perform risk assessments, and lead incident response, IAM, and DevSecOps initiatives on-site in Pretoria.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity or related field.
• 7+ years of information security experience, 3+ years in cloud security.
• Proven experience securing AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, IAM, data security and threat detection.
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation) and security implications.
• Familiarity with container security (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with security monitoring/logging in cloud environments (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, SIEM).
• Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, AWS Certified Security – Specialty, or Azure Security Engineer are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain security controls and architectures for cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Develop and enforce cloud security policies, standards, and best practices.
• Conduct security assessments and risk analyses of cloud-based applications and infrastructure.
• Implement and manage IAM solutions for cloud resources.
• Develop and deploy automated security solutions for cloud deployments (security groups, network ACLs, WAFs).
• Monitor cloud environments for security threats and incidents with effective containment and remediation.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to integrate security into the CI/CD pipeline (DevSecOps).
• Perform regular security audits and compliance checks against relevant frameworks.
• Lead incident response activities for cloud-related security breaches.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior security engineers and analysts.
• Stay updated on emerging cloud security threats and technologies and adapt strategies.
• Develop and maintain security documentation for cloud infrastructure.
