Placements24 seeks a Lead Cloud Solutions Architect for an on-site role in Durban. You will design, implement, and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, guiding migration, governance, and optimization while mentoring cloud engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and solutions architecture, with at least 5 years focused on cloud platforms.
• Extensive hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM, RDS, Lambda, CloudFormation).
• Proven track record of designing and implementing large-scale cloud architectures.
• Strong understanding of networking, security, and data management in cloud environments.
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to lead technical teams and influence stakeholders.
• Relevant AWS certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional) are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and architecture of cloud solutions on AWS, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
• Develop and implement cloud migration strategies for existing applications and infrastructure.
• Define and enforce cloud governance policies, best practices, and standards.
• Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure seamless deployment and management of cloud services.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimization and efficiency improvements in the cloud environment.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to cloud engineering teams.
• Evaluate and recommend new cloud technologies and services.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive cloud architecture documentation.
• Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and security standards.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues.
