Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Junior Commercial Litigation Associate for our Benoni office. You will assist senior litigators across a busy docket, conducting research, drafting pleadings, and helping prepare for trials and appeals.

The role offers mentorship in a reputable practice and hands‑on experience in complex commercial disputes. Ideal candidates are newly qualified or junior lawyers with strong writing, research, and communication skills, and a keen interest in commercial law and dispute

Qualifications

• Admitted attorney with an LLB degree.
• Completed articles of clerkship and admitted to practice.
• 0–3 years PQE in commercial litigation preferred.
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Proficiency in legal research databases and standard office software.
• Keen interest in commercial law and dispute resolution.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough legal research on case law, statutes and regulations relevant to commercial litigation matters.
• Draft initial pleadings, affidavits, notices and other court documents under supervision.
• Assist in examinations, depositions and client interviews.
• Manage document review and discovery processes.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel and court personnel.
• Attend court hearings and assist senior attorneys during trials.
• Contribute to case strategy development and analysis.
• Maintain accurate and organized case files.
• Stay updated on legal developments and best practices in commercial litigation.
• Uphold high ethical standards and professional conduct.
