Placements24 is seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate for a leading law firm in Benoni, Gauteng. The role centers on representing clients in banking and finance disputes, handling matters from pleadings through discovery to trial and appeals.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of post-qualification experience, strong civil procedure knowledge, and excellent research, writing and advocacy skills. A client-focused approach is essential in a busy practice setting.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa or equivalent.
• 3–5 years' post-qualification experience in commercial litigation.
• Demonstrated experience in banking and finance disputes is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of civil procedure and evidence law.
• Excellent legal research, writing and oral advocacy skills.

Responsabilités

• Manage a caseload of commercial litigation matters, with a focus on banking and finance disputes.
• Conduct legal research, analyze case law, and prepare legal opinions.
• Draft pleadings, applications, affidavits, and other court documents.
• Manage discovery processes, including document review and witness preparation.
• Represent clients in court appearances, mediations, and arbitrations.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
• Liaise with clients, opposing counsel and court officials.
• Develop strategies for complex cases and stay updated on relevant law.
