You will diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues, manage user accounts and devices, perform backups, and collaborate with senior IT staff on projects while upholding IT security best practices.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a technical support role.
• Proficient with Windows and macOS, and Microsoft Office.
• Desirable certifications such as CompTIA A+/Network+ or Microsoft Certified.

Responsibilities

• Provide first- and second-level technical support via remote access, phone, and email.
• Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, OS, and network devices.
• Troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and core business apps.

About the Role

Our client, a forward-thinking technology solutions provider, is seeking a skilled IT Support Technician to join their growing team in Centurion, Gauteng. This role is critical in providing essential technical support to internal staff and external clients, ensuring the smooth operation of all IT systems and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be a proactive problem-solver with a strong understanding of hardware, software, and network troubleshooting. You will be responsible for diagnosing and resolving IT issues efficiently, managing IT assets, and contributing to the overall stability and security of our client's technology environment. Key Responsibilities

• Provide first- and second-level technical support to users via remote access, phone, and email.
• Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware, software, operating systems, and network devices.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and core business applications.
• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls in Active Directory and other relevant systems.
• Perform regular system maintenance, including updates, patches, and backups.
• Monitor system performance and security, identifying and addressing potential issues proactively.
• Document IT procedures, solutions, and support activities in the knowledge base.
• Assist with IT asset management, including inventory tracking and procurement.
• Collaborate with senior IT staff on larger projects and system upgrades.
• Ensure compliance with IT policies and security best practices.

Requirements

• Proven experience as an IT Support Technician, Helpdesk Technician, or similar role, preferably supporting a Centurion, Gauteng based organization.
• Strong knowledge of Windows and macOS operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and common business applications.
• Experience with network troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and hardware diagnostics.
• Familiarity with virtualisation technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
• Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified are highly desirable.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical support role.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred.
