Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Technical Support Apprentice for our Upington, Northern Cape operation. The role involves providing first-line IT support to end-users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues, and gaining hands-on experience with ticketing systems under experienced mentors.

The position emphasizes strong communication, patience, and a willingness to learn. It is based in Upington with full-time presence in our local office.

Qualifications

• A qualification or strong interest in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer service orientation and patience.
• Ability to troubleshoot hardware, software, and basic networks.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-line technical support to end-users via phone, email, and in person.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
• Install, configure, and maintain computer hardware and software.
• Manage user accounts and permissions.
• Document issues and resolutions in a ticketing system.
• Escalate complex problems to higher-level support when needed.
• Assist with setup of new workstations and office equipment.
• Provide basic training on software and hardware usage.
• Follow standard operating procedures and contribute to knowledge base.
