About the Role

Our client is seeking a meticulous and skilled Instrumentation and Control Technician to join their technical team in Sandton . You will be responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of critical instrumentation and control systems essential for the safe and efficient operation of their oil and gas facilities. This role demands a deep understanding of various measurement and control technologies. You will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy of process data and the proper functioning of automated systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair a wide range of process instruments, including transmitters, valves, and sensors.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with control systems (DCS/PLC) and instrumentation, implementing effective repairs.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the reliability of instrumentation and control equipment.
• Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and technical manuals for troubleshooting and installation.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
• Support plant start-ups, shutdowns, and turnaround activities related to instrumentation and control systems.

Requirements

• Relevant technical qualification or certification in Instrumentation and Control Technology.
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as an Instrumentation and Control Technician, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
• Proficiency with various types of instrumentation (pressure, temperature, flow, level) and control valves.
• Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Strong understanding of calibration procedures and diagnostic tools.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
