Summary

Securing Travel, Protecting People — At the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), you will serve in a high‑stakes environment to safeguard the American way of life. In cities across the country, you will secure airports, seaports, railroads, highways, and public transit systems, protecting America’s transportation infrastructure and ensuring freedom of movement for people and commerce.

Duties
  • Manages IT programs/projects applying technical knowledge of various specialized areas of applications development, engineering, network operations and maintenance functions, and conceives, plans, and conducts studies involving complex issues and unique problems. Provides applications and systems development, testing, release management, configuration management and client device testing.
  • Implements IT project plans to meet objectives; coordinates and integrates project activities; manages, leads, or administers project resources; monitors project activities and resources to mitigate risk; implements or maintains quality assurance processes.
  • Provides advice on project costs, design concepts, or design changes and reviews or conducts audits of IT programs and projects. Ensures that all acquisitions, procurements, and outsourcing efforts address information security requirements consistent with organization goals. Reviews status of information management related programs making planning adjustments and recommending changes. Acts as a primary stakeholder in the underlying IT operational processes and functions that support the service and provides direction and monitors all significant activities so the service is delivered successfully.
  • Participates in network and systems design to ensure implementation of appropriate systems security policies, and often develops new policies, procedures, and approaches taking into consideration TSA policies, government‑wide rules, regulations, and industry standards. Ensures the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of all IT services.
Requirements
  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. National.
  • Minimum age 18 at the time of application.
  • Secret security clearance required; applicant must obtain and maintain.
  • Background Investigation required.
  • Selective Service registration required.
  • Pass a pre‑employment Drug/Alcohol Test.
Qualifications
  • One year of specialized experience at the SV‑14 or GS‑14 level in the federal service or equivalent private‑sector experience; specialized experience includes managing and leading large IT programs and overseeing IT project activities.
  • Experience is credited based on a 40‑hour workweek; part‑time experience is credited on a part‑time ratio.
  • Volunteer National Service experiences (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) are credited as part of the required experience.
