Job summary

Placements24, on behalf of a major industrial facility in Soweto, Gauteng, seeks a skilled Maintenance Technician to ensure optimal performance of production equipment. This on-site role focuses on routine maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, and contributing to preventative maintenance programs.

You will read blueprints and manuals, work with the production team to minimize downtime, and support safety and efficiency across operations.

Qualifications

Trade qualification or equivalent industrial maintenance experience.
Experience diagnosing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
Ability to read technical diagrams and manuals.
Commitment to safety regulations and teamwork.

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment.
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults in production machinery.
Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to understand equipment specifications.
Maintain a log of all maintenance activities, including repairs and scheduled services.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and company policies.
Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
Conduct regular inspections of machinery to identify potential issues before they cause breakdowns.
Order and manage spare parts inventory as needed.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and practices.
