Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Electrical Maintenance Engineer for a major industrial facility in Soweto, Gauteng. The role is hands-on and focused on diagnosing, troubleshooting, and maintaining electrical systems to ensure optimal plant performance and reliability.

The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, motor controls, PLCs, and power distribution, with a commitment to safety and continuous improvement in a hands-on, on-site environment.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or BEng in Electrical Engineering or a relevant trade qualification.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical maintenance in industrial/manufacturing settings.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems (AC/DC motors, drives, control circuits).
• Familiarity with PLC systems and basic programming/diagnostics.
• Strong safety knowledge and practice (LOTO) and fault diagnosis abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and maintenance on electrical equipment (motors, generators, switchgear, panels, lighting).
• Troubleshoot faults to minimize production downtime and repair as needed.
• Develop and manage preventive/predictive maintenance programs for electrical systems.
• Ensure compliance with SANS standards, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Read electrical schematics and blueprints; collaborate on installation and commissioning.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, asset status, and spare parts.
• Work with production and other engineering teams to implement improvements.
• Participate in safety training and promote a strong safety culture.
