Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician for its East London, Eastern Cape operations. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to ensure continuous production and optimal equipment performance.

You will read manuals and schematics, document maintenance activities, and support safety and environmental regulations.

Qualifications

• Trade certificate or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Maintenance.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on all industrial machinery and equipment according to schedule.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues on production machinery.
• Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and malfunctions, minimizing downtime.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to perform repairs.
• Conduct regular inspections of the facility and equipment to identify potential problems.
• Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
• Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations.
• Participate in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Assist in maintaining an adequate stock of spare parts and tools.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and reducing maintenance costs.
