Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Industrial Engineer for a Port Elizabeth facility to optimize plant layout and workflow design. You will enhance material flow, reduce travel distances, and ensure safe, efficient production areas through CAD-driven layouts.

Responsibilities include creating 2D/3D facility drawings, conducting ergonomic assessments, and collaborating with production, maintenance, and safety teams. A strong Lean manufacturing background and 4+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in industrial engineering with a focus on plant layout, workflow design, and facilities planning.
• Proficiency in CAD for 2D and 3D layout design and visualization.
• Strong understanding of material handling, production flow optimization, and lean manufacturing concepts.
• Experience with simulation software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize plant layouts to improve material flow and reduce travel distances.
• Develop detailed workflow diagrams and process maps to analyze sequences.
• Conduct ergonomic assessments to improve safety and operator comfort.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet production, maintenance, and safety needs.
• Use CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to create/update facility layouts and equipment placements.
• Analyze production data to identify layout and workflow improvements.
• Support the implementation of new equipment and production lines.
• Develop business cases with cost-benefit analyses for layout changes.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and industry standards in facility design.
