Placements24 is sourcing for an Executive Industrial Engineering Manager in Cape Town to spearhead end-to-end supply chain optimization. The role demands leading teams, redesigning warehouse and transport networks, and driving cost reductions through advanced analytics and simulation.

The successful candidate will guide strategic changes across logistics operations, using experience with WMS/TMS and capacity planning to achieve efficiency gains and improved customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering with a strong focus on supply chain and logistics operations.
• Demonstrated experience in managing large-scale optimization projects and leading teams.
• Expertise in supply chain modeling, simulation software (e.g., AnyLogic, Arena), and advanced analytics.
• In-depth knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies applied to supply chains.
• Strong understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to thrive in a complex, high-pressure environment and make data-driven decisions.
• Proficiency in project management tools and techniques.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to the Cape Town metropolitan area.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of industrial engineering strategies for the entire supply chain, from inbound logistics to final delivery.
• Analyze current supply chain processes, identifying inefficiencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
• Design and implement optimized warehouse layouts, material handling systems, and inventory control strategies.
• Develop and manage transportation models to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of goods.
• Utilize simulation and modeling tools to forecast demand, plan capacity, and optimize resource allocation.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics for the supply chain, monitoring progress and reporting on outcomes.
• Lead and mentor a team of industrial engineers and supply chain analysts.
• Collaborate with external partners, vendors, and carriers to ensure seamless integration and operational excellence.
• Champion the adoption of new technologies and best practices in supply chain management.
