Placements24 seeks a Lead Industrial Engineer to spearhead optimization of extensive supply chain operations in Durban. You will analyze complex logistics networks, design efficient warehousing layouts, and implement advanced methodologies to streamline material flow and inventory management.

The role requires a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and the ability to lead projects from conception to implementation, on-site at our KwaZulu-Natal hub.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• 10 years of progressive experience in industrial engineering with specialization in supply chain and logistics optimization.
• Proven track record leading complex engineering projects in large-scale distribution or manufacturing.
• Expertise in supply chain modeling, simulation, and optimization software.
• Strong understanding of warehousing operations, inventory management, and transportation logistics.
• Proficiency in data analysis and statistical software.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• On-site work ability in Durban facility.
• Lean and Six Sigma methodologies applied to supply chains.

Responsibilities

• Lead industrial engineering projects focused on supply chain efficiency, including network optimization, warehouse layout, and material handling systems.
• Develop strategies to improve inventory accuracy, reduce lead times, and cut operational costs.
• Conduct site assessments and data analysis to identify KPIs and improvement areas.
• Use advanced modeling/simulation tools to evaluate changes and optimize performance.
• Collaborate with operations, procurement, and IT to ensure seamless integration of engineered solutions.
• Create and maintain detailed process docs, SOPs, and training materials.
• Mentor junior engineers and project teams to foster continuous improvement.
• Stay updated on industry best practices, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes.
• Present findings and project updates to senior management in Durban.
• Ensure solutions comply with safety, quality, and sustainability standards.
