Placements24 is assisting a manufacturing client in Mahikeng, North West, to hire an experienced Industrial Engineer to lead plant layout and workflow design. The role focuses on maximizing efficiency, safety, and productivity through optimized facility layouts and material flow.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's in Industrial Engineering, 4+ years of layout experience, and strong CAD skills (AutoCAD/SolidWorks), with a hands-on approach to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 4 years' experience in industrial engineering focused on plant layout and workflow design.
• Proficiency in CAD software for 2D/3D design (AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, material flow, and lean principles.
• Knowledge of ergonomic principles and workplace safety standards.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with various teams.
• Ability to visualize and conceptualize complex spatial arrangements.
• Experience in developing detailed layout plans and related documentation.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on practical and efficient solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design and optimize plant layouts, workstations, and production lines to improve material flow and reduce non-value-added activities.
• Utilize CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) to create detailed layout drawings and models.
• Conduct workflow analysis to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in material handling and production processes.
• Apply ergonomic principles to workstation design to enhance worker safety and comfort.
• Collaborate with production, engineering, and maintenance teams to ensure practical and effective layout solutions.
• Develop facility planning documentation and proposals, including cost-benefit analyses.
• Participate in the selection and specification of material handling equipment.
• Ensure layouts comply with safety regulations, environmental standards, and operational requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to facility design and workflow optimization.
• Evaluate the impact of new equipment or process changes on existing layouts.
