Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an Electrical Maintenance Engineer for a leading industrial manufacturer in Sandton, Gauteng. This on-site role focuses on preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems to minimize downtime.

You will read schematics, work with AC/DC motors, VFDs and PLCs, and ensure safety compliance. A National Diploma or Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and 6+ years’ experience are required; willingness to work shifts/on-call.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in electrical engineering or equivalent trade qualification.
• 6+ years in electrical maintenance in industrial/manufacturing settings.
• Experience with AC/DC motors, VFDs and PLCs; ability to read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance on plant electrical equipment (motors, switchgear, lighting).
• Troubleshoot faults and implement timely repairs.
• Install and commission new electrical equipment and systems.
• Read schematics and interpret manuals for layouts and components.
• Ensure safety regulations and maintain accurate maintenance records.
• Coordinate with production to minimize disruption and promote safe practices.
• Support safety culture within the maintenance team.
