Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Water and Sanitation Engineer in Soweto, Gauteng. You will contribute to designing, implementing, and maintaining water supply and wastewater systems to safeguard public health.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree with Water Resources or Environmental focus, 6+ years in relevant projects, and proficiency with hydraulic modeling tools. On-site work in Soweto with scope for regulatory compliance and community impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with Water Resources or Environmental Engineering.
• Pr Eng registration with ECSA preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in water and sanitation municipal/public infrastructure projects.
• Experience in designing water reticulation and wastewater treatment systems.
• Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software (EPANET, WaterGEMS, SewerGEMS).

Responsibilities

• Design and oversee water supply networks (pipelines, reservoirs, pumping stations).
• Plan and manage wastewater collection systems and treatment plants.
• Conduct hydraulic analysis and modeling using specialized software.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and water quality standards.
• Prepare detailed designs, tender documents, and cost estimates.
• Manage project execution including contractor supervision and quality control.
• Monitor performance of existing water and sanitation infrastructure and propose improvements.
• Liaise with municipal authorities and stakeholders.
• Provide technical support on water and sanitation issues.
• Contribute to sustainable water resource management strategies.
