Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Water and Sanitation Engineer for Upington, Northern Cape. You will lead design and implementation of water supply, treatment and wastewater systems, with field site visits and office-based design work.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree with water/environmental specialization, is ECSA-registered, and brings 6+ years of relevant experience in water projects, including hydraulics, disinfection, and CAD/Civil 3D modeling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with specialization in Water or Environmental Engineering.
• Professional registration with ECSA (Pr.Eng or Pr.Tech.Eng) is required.
• A minimum of 6 years of experience in design and implementation of water supply and sanitation projects.
• Strong knowledge of water treatment processes, wastewater treatment technologies, and disinfection methods.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D and hydraulic modeling software.
• GIS tools for network analysis is advantageous.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and report-writing skills.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop water supply systems including treatment plants, reservoirs, pumping stations and distribution networks.
• Design wastewater collection systems and treatment plants.
• Conduct hydraulic modeling and analysis for water and sewer networks.
• Prepare detailed engineering designs, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Ensure designs comply with national and international water quality standards and environmental regulations.
• Conduct site investigations and feasibility studies for water and sanitation projects.
• Supervise construction activities related to water and sanitation infrastructure.
• Collaborate with clients, local authorities and contractors to ensure project delivery.
• Provide technical support and advice on water and sanitation related issues.
• Stay updated with new technologies and best practices in water and wastewater engineering.
