Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer to lead mine planning, production scheduling, and day-to-day operations near Vereeniging, Gauteng. You will direct a team of engineers and supervisors, drive safety, and deliver efficient, cost-effective mining results.

The role blends on-site leadership with remote planning and reporting in a hybrid environment, with an executive compensation package including medical aid, retirement contributions, and performance bonuses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mining engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in mine operations.
• Experience in supervisory/senior engineering roles.
• Proven experience in underground and/or open-pit mining methods.
• Proficiency with mine planning/design software (Deswik/Vulcan/Surpac).
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement short- and medium-term mine plans and schedules.
• Oversee daily mining operations ensuring safety and production targets are met.
• Mentor and manage a team of mining engineers and supervisors.
• Analyze performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement improvements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
